Get Kids To Exercise

 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Keeping our bodies healthy is part of our responsibility. It’s our responsibility as parents to teach kids to adopt healthier lifestyles. A life of gluttony and sloth isn’t something God wants for us.
Get the kids off the couch and work towards an hour of physical activity each day.
Bring them out for a walk and show them God’s work in nature.
Besides walking, singing and dancing to the Lord is a great form of exercise, for the body, soul and spirit.
Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 2 Samuel 6:14
King David danced to worship God.

Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. 21 Miriam sang to them:

“Sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver
he has hurled into the sea.” Exodus 15:20-21

When God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt, Miriam, Mose’s sister led the women in worship, dancing before God.

Dance is a great form of exercise. Get up with the kids and dance while watching Hillsong Kids dance and worship videos.

  1. Exercise is such an important part of leading a healthy life, and when I read about child obesity and see the various statistics, I feel sick. Thank you for posting this—it has given me some great ideas on how to stress the importance of exercise to both my own children and my ministry students.
